Environmental conditions are responses to the changes external regional conditions.  in the determination of the environmental conditions in Saudi Arabia, four aspects come to the fore. They are the geological conditions, are geography, climate, and ecology respectively (Sallis, Owen and Fisher, 2015, p.49). This essay offers a critical evaluation of the role, extent and magnitude to which each of the variables have contributed to the current environmental conditions in the Saudi Arabian society.

One of the critical aspects of the country’s geology is the rocks. Overall, the rocks ages in Saudi Arabia varies from the Precambrian rocks age to the present (Saudi Geology Survey, 2017). The Precambrian rocks in the region date back to 3 Million years ago named as the Archean age, while others date back to 1000-540 Million years ago and are known as Neoproterozoic. The origin of these rocks was volcanic chains that erupted and were folded and uplifted towards the end of Precambrian into large mountain belts. However, the mountains only existed between 680-540 Million years and were part of the ever known largest mountain belts to have existed on the earth.

However, they were eroded towards the end of the Precambrian and only the roots are preserved (Coleman, Gregory and Brown, 2016, p.144). The erosion is believed to have exposed a number of the key mineral deposits’ such as gold and zinc. In this regard, the Phanerozoic layers contain the oil deposits. Today, oil and oil products are the main export commodities in the nation contributing to the higher single product percentage on the GDP value. In this case, the process of oil mining, refining and storage have had a direct impact on the environmental conditions. One of the impacts is increased air pollution (Forsythe et al., 2016, p.5679). In this case, the process of oil mining and drilling has impact largely on the environmental conditions especially with pollution. This has an overall impact on the air cleanliness and by extension has an influence and contribution towards the current global warming challenge.

Saudi Arabia occupies most of the Arabian Peninsula area. This means that the region is mainly rocky and comprised of vast sand lands. The nation is in the Middle East region and borders the Red Sea and Gulf Aqaba to the west, Persian Gulf to the West, and Yemen to the South respectively. Th total land boundaries for the nation is 4431 Kms. Overall, besides the other features, the nation is renowned for its holding the world’s largest countionous sand desert, commonly known as the Al-Rub Al-Khali. The above geographical features of the nation have a direct impact on its overall environmental conditions and changes over the years. On the one hand, the nation is the host to the largest sand desert in the world. This means that the environmental conditions are largely and hugely affected by these climatic conditions.

On the one hand, the sand dunes and desserts are increasingly associated with rising temperatures’ (Chronicle, 2017). Secondly, the fact that the region is border the red sea and the Persian Gulf on the east and west borders, has exposed it to the rising sea levels and pollution along the beach and ocean lines. Thus, the rising trends to pollution in sea, water and air are closely related to the geographical location (AlSuhaibani, Kizilbash and Malik, 2015, p.7855).

Overall, the climate in Saudi Arabia varies between the coast and the interior areas of the country. In this case, while as the temperatures are relatively lower along the coast lines, they are increasingly high in the interior regions. This temperature variance could be explained through using the geographical aspects of the region. In this case, the interior regions of the nation are predominantly the sand deserts. The sand deserts are closely linked with the lack of rains and as such high temperatures’ during the day and low temperatures at night. On the other hand, for the coastal regions, the area experiences conventional rainfall meaning that through these differences, the rainfall distribution in the national varies accordingly. This is the main source of the environmental changes (Weather Online, 2017)For instance, while as around the coast there is a sense of green vegetation, this is not the case for the interior areas. In this regard, the coastal region is characterised by the presence of green vegetation such as along the beach lines and other nearby areas in the region.

On the other hand, this form of vegetation is not common in the interior. Thus, this essay critical analysis denotes that there is a direct relationship between the regions ecology that shaped the existing geography and divided the nation into two main parts, namely the interior sand deserts and the coastal areas respectively, and the overall resulting climate changes and dimensions in the country (Rowlands, Purkis and Bruckner, 2014, p.11).

One of the ecological aspects’ of the nation has been the fact that it is largely a mosquito habitat (Akkermans, Huigens and Brüning, 2014, p.191). The ecological nature of the coastal makes it an ideal mosquito breeding and habitat area. In this case, the mushy coastal lines and the dense vegetation areas along the coast lines have been linked to the habitation of the area. In this regard, this essay concludes that indeed, this ecological presence has impacted on the environmental conditions of the region (Roberts et al., 2016, p. 561). For instance, it has become environmentally critical for any visitors to use preventative measures as well as the residents around the area using preventative environmental friendly measures to safeguard against the attacks by the mosquitoes.

In summary, the aim of the essay was to evaluate how each of the aspects impact on environmental changes as well as how they interrelate with one another to impact on the environment. In this case, the review has concluded that in fact, the relationship between the variables results and shapes the environmental conditions on the environment.
